Chrissie Larkton is a character appearing in the episode A Grain of Truth of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders. Chrissie owns the Larkton Mill with her husband, Tom. The mill has been in her family since 1821. Chrissie grew up in the village. The mill used to be run by her father. Chrissie and Tom have restored it and now use only organic flour. In addition to the mill, Tom teaches Master Classes in baking and they have a waterfront cafe.
Villagers are jealous and angry about the reopening of the mill. They are afraid it will take away business. Denise Bantrig, of the Highwayman Inn, is leading a protest. She tries to sabotage the opening and success of the mill by posting texts saying the mill uses pesticides. She also sent Chrissie a cake with the word CURSED written on the inside. Maria Cignoni, a restaurant owner, is also angry about the mill. She supports the protest against the Larktons. They says the Larktons will be defeated by the curse. The mill was always known as Abigdon Mill from the book of Revelation. A place of destruction. realm of the dead. Marie's son drowned there.
After eating rolls with seeds infected with ergot, Chrissie has nightmares. She starts to remember events from 20 years ago. She remembers seeing Michael Cignoni drown. Michael had been chasing her for months and wouldn't leave her alone, although she told him no. He was sadistic and predatory. Chrissie was walking back from the village when Michael chased after her. Gabriel pulled Michael off of her and pushed him. Michael fell and must have hit his head before he fell in the water. Gabriel pulled Chrissie away from trying to save Michael and said it was divine justice. When Chrissie saw the blood on the rocks, she passed out.
