Colonel Hartley is a character mentioned in the episode Bantling Boy of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders.
He was the original owner of Bantling Hall and Bantling Boy. Bruce Hartley was his son with Angela, John Osgood was his doctor, Trevor Machin was his gardener and Joanna Craxton was his nurse.
Nine years ago he raped Joanna and she became pregnant with Peter. Angela found out, but as a divorce was out of the question for her due to the Heartleys beeing Catholic, she keept quiet. Bruce, Dr. John Osgood and Trevor all knew about this but didn't tell anyone, including Ray. As a reward for their silence, he left the three and Joanna the ownership of Bantling Boy.
