David Heartley-Reade is a character appearing in the episode The Fisher King of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders.
Raised the son of the well known archaeologist, Paul Heartley-Reade wrote a book, The Hidden Celtic World, described as 'a popular account of pagan culture' that was 'highly entertaining'.
He became obsessed with renewal and pagan ritual when it came to light that the woman he fell in love with and married was also the offspring of his biological father, Roger Heldman, as were any number of other Midsomer Barrow residents.
He was killed by a fired arrow at the finale of the Equinox ritual that he had finally forced his aunt, Anne Heldman, to agree to hold on her land.
