Elaine Bennet is a character appearing in the episode The Debt of Lies of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders.

Elaine was killed by her son, Lionel, because she kept from him the information that she had Groedinger's Disease. It is an inherited condition and over time the brain cells began to waste away; the patient loses balance and eventually the ability to walk and talk. Doctors advise sufferers to tell their children so they can get tested..

Lionel had a 50/50 chance of inheriting it and passing it on to his daughter. Elaine told Lionel she didn't tell him because he and his wife, Jenny, would have terminated her pregnancy. Elaine was a very cold and selfish woman. Lionel pushed her, she fell into furniture and died. Then he put her in her car and sent it into a tree to make it look like an accident.
