Who Killed Cock Robin is the fourth episode of the fourth series of the popular ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders. It was originally aired 9th September 2001

Synopsis[]

While driving home from a party in the village of Newton Magna, Dr. Burgess accidentally hits someone with his car. He goes to a nearby pub for assistance, but when they return to the scene of the accident, there is no one to be found. The pub owner seeks Tom Barnaby's assistance but all he and DS Troy can find is a bloody handkerchief by the side of the road. Barnaby does meet up with Melvyn Stockard, now a buyer and seller of horses, but who was once convicted of robbery. They know that the person struck by the car was a recently arrived Irishman who claimed to be a horse whisperer. When a body is found in the village well, the police uncover a complex web of marital infidelities and deceit. When another villager is found murdered, Barnaby finds that the horse whisperers appearance in the village some weeks before may been for a very specific purpose.

Plot[]

After an enjoyable evening with local landowner and former criminal Melvyn Stockard and his girlfriend, Francesca Ward, who runs the horse stables, Dr. Oliver Burgess drives home in an inebriated state and hits something. The doctor makes his way to the White Swan pub. He tells the publican, Bill Pitman, that he hit somebody. They walk to his wrecked car but don't see any body. Frank Lightbourne shows up to tow the doctor's car. Mary Mohan observes them through her window.

The next morning, DCI Barnaby and his wife, Joyce Barnaby are driving to the pub. At the White Swan, Bill tells Barnaby about the incident last night. An Irishman has been renting Bill's cottage. He's a horse whisperer. Barnaby leaves Joyce at the pub while going to check out the cottage.

Frank Lightbourne is at Mary Mohan's house asking what she saw last night. She claims she saw nothing. Frank asks about her Irish friend. Mary says he's not her friend.

Barnaby goes to the cottage and looks around. He finds a passport for Sean O'Connell and calls Troy, asking him to check all the hospitals. He tears off a piece of paper from a notebook. While searching, Barnaby hears a noise downstairs and finds Melvyn Stockard entering the cottage. Melvyn is a former criminal who was in jail for only 18 months. Barnaby asks what Melvyn was doing in Sean O'Connell's house. Melvyn says he saw Barnaby while he was out riding. Outside, Melvyn introduces his daughter Julie, who he had been riding with. Melvyn sends Julie on ahead. Barnaby walks beside Melvyn as he rides his horse through the village. Barnaby asks what Melvyn is doing in town. Melvyn says he had a triple bypass so now he is living above board and breeding horses (bloodstock.) He is also improving the village. He paid for the new church roof and is on the parish council which has saved the mobile library and the bus service. They are cleaning out the well on the green. He has a large mansion and Jackie Marsh manages his estate. His wife, Bubbles Stockard, manages a jewelry shop in Oxford. Francesca Ward drives up. Joyce walks up and relieves Barnaby of the car keys.

Barnaby goes to the garage to look at the Dr. Burgess's car. "It's a noisy business towing out a crashed car. Nobody looked through a window?" asks Barnaby. Frank and Bill both say they saw nothing. The doctor asks if he will be charged and Barnaby says that depends on whether they find his victim.

Troy drives up and the detectives examine the ruts in the road. "Pissed as a Lord, was he?" asks Troy. "Most likely," says Barnaby. Troy checked hospitals within 50 miles and there have been no bleeding Irishmen.

Mary Mohan comes out of her cottage and Barnaby introduces himself. Mary says she saw the car and the doctor getting out apparently unhurt. She claims she wasn't disturbed by the car being towed. She says Dr. Burgess had given her some pills. Mary asks if they found the Irish chap. She hasn't seen him in a couple of days. Troy finds a bloody towel in the weeds.

Melvyn, meanwhile, is on the phone arranging a deal. His daughter Julie walks in and wants to know what is going on. Melvyn says he is selling a horse.

Barnaby and Troy go to the riding stable and see Francesca riding a horse. Francesca says Melvyn is her business partner. She mentions that Sean O'Connell had been looking for a job. She did have Melvyn and the doctor over for drinks last night. Melvyn stayed overnight.

At Joe Megson's home, Julie Stockard and Chris Megson are kissing in the kitchen as Joe walks in. Julie offers to make some tea, but Joe says he will make his own. Chris says he and Julie are going to Causton for a couple pints. Joe asks, "Who's paying for that." Joe goes on to ask if Julie is going to learn to cook after the nuptials.

Julie and Chris go to the pub and see Barnaby and Troy. Barnaby asks Julie what she knows about the Irishman. She says she knows nothing. Julie and Chris are getting married in two weeks. Best man, Noel Wooliscroft is also at the pub.

Barnaby and Troy exit the pub and Barnaby explains that Melvyn Stockard has a record. "Burglary from an early age, then on to property swindles, intimidation, half of North Oxford under his thumb." Barnaby pulled him in along with his friend, Jackie Marsh, for robbery with violence. Barnaby says, "But my superiors at the time couldn't resist fitting him up with other offenses. They had no evidence. A smart lawyer made mincemeat of them and our squire ended up with 18 months for an offense which should have carried 10 years, minimum."

At night, someone with a flashlight is in a house and gets into a medicine cabinet.

The next day, Troy reports, "Sean O'Connell, aged 43. Former vet. License revoked after conviction for fraud, deception, and conflict of interest, October '96. His talent was doping show horses to win an event which put up their selling price. Then he'd act as adviser to the buyer, passing them A1. He did nine months then emigrated to New Zealand." Three weeks after his arrival in a village where nobody knows him, he disappears, says Barnaby. Stockard buys and sells horses. O'Connell knows a trick with them. So they could be pulling a stunt with them.

As they are passing the village green, a body is pulled from the well. Barnaby and Troy go to investigate. Chris Megson says it is Noel's dad and he and Julie drive off. Robin Wooliscroft disappeared 6 weeks ago. Melvyn comes up to Barnaby and says, "Ding, dong, bell, pussy's in the well. Who put him in? Little Johnny Flynn. Who pulled him out? Little Tommy Stout." Frank Lightbourne looks on.

Mary Mohan is at her house and puts her house key under a pot when Frank walks up with a TV.

Bill tells Barnaby that Robin Wooliscroft got involved with Valerie Megson, the farmer's wife. And Robin was the father of Noel, the best man. Chris and Noel are pals from school days. A few weeks back. Robin and Valerie were planning a new life in New Zealand. She had family or friends out there. They thought Megson had got wind of them so they just packed up and left more or less the next day. They were going separately to the airport, they were so nervous. But Robin never got there. Valerie flew off without him supposedly.

Frank sets up the TV at Mary's house. Mary accuses Frank of doing something with Valerie. Frank tells her she's got it all wrong.

Noel comes to identify the body at the morgue. Dr. Bullard tells Barnaby that Robin was killed with two blows to the back of the head. Death was almost immediate and he spent six weeks preserved in the well. His passport, airline ticket to New Zealand, credit cards and a jade pendant were found on him. His watch was missing. A photo of Valerie Megson was stuffed in his trouser pocket. Troy reports to Barnaby that Valerie was booked on the flight, but she didn't show up. The departure was at 2:30 on the 12th. So they must have left separately early that morning.

At Megson's farm, Troy tells Joe that on Wednesday the 11th July Valerie booked a flight, departing the next day, Heathrow to Auckland. Joe says, "Oh, that's where she went then?" Troy says, "This morning, the murdered remains of Robin Wooliscroft were brought up from the well, and it's common knowledge...." Joe interupts, "Common knowledge? Is that all you've got to go on, idle bloody tittle-tattle?" Barnaby says, "We're not accusing you, Mr Megson. All we're concerned with, at the moment, is that your wife is safe and well. Has she been in touch with you, sir?" Chris walks in, "Well, has she, Dad? Well, tell 'em!" Joe tells Chris, "You stay out of this." The detectives ask Chris if he has heard from his mother? Chris tells them his dad grabbed a letter from his mom before he could read it and tore it up! Joe Megson refuses to tell the police anything. "You'll not get her whereabouts out of me. Faithless bitch. And if you're not arresting me, I'll ask you to leave my house." Chris says, "Well, what's going on, Dad? What have you done with her? And Noel's Dad. I want to know." Joe grabs Chris's jacket, "What? Are you saying, I killed 'em, you little ponce? Get out of my sight." Joe walks out and slams the door.

As the detectives leave, Julie arrives. Barnaby and Troy question Julie. She says murder is unthinkable. The detectives are concerned that no one has heard from Valerie. Julie says Mary Mohan may have been her closest friend. They drive past the village green where Robin's wife, Bridget Wooliscroft, lays a wreath at the well. Her son, Noel, consoles her while her brother, Frank, looks on.

At Mary Mohan's house, Melvyn takes a packet with Mrs. Megson written on it. He says he will take care of it and the TV. He tells Mary to call him anytime, day or night. But it is their secret. Barnaby and Troy walk by Mary's house and see Melvyn coming out. Melvyn asks the detectives "How's your murder inquiry? I know where most of the bodies are buried in this village." The detectives ask Mary if she has heard from Valerie, but she hasn't.

Troy goes into Francesca Ward's house and hears a shower running. He peeks in the bathroom and sees Francesca come out of the shower. She screams at him in Spanish. Francesca, wrapped up in a robe, tells the detectives she hardly knows Sean O'Connell. Barnaby tells her, "It's only fair to warn you, Sean O'Connell has a criminal record and if you intend using him, you'll put your work here in serious jeopardy." Troy turns to apologize and Francesca slams the door in his face.

At night, someone pushes manure through Mary's letter box. She calls Melvyn, but he is not at home.

Barnaby and Troy go to interview Bridget Wooliscroft. She denies knowing that her husband was leaving her. Noel says, "Oh, come on, Mother. Half the bloody village knew." Bridget says, "Well, that's certainly news to me, Noel." She pretends to not have had any trouble with her late husband. She tells the detectives that her husband sometimes got called away on business. Noel cuts in and says, "No, he wasn't." Bridget yells, "Why do you keep contradicting me? Haven't I suffered enough?" She grabs a bottle of liquor from behind a pillow and pours herself a drink.

The detectives leave and Barnaby wonders where Robin Wooliscroft's car is. Noel runs after the detectives and says, "She's lying. I mean, I know I shouldn't say this about my mother but Dad couldn't stand the sight of her." Barnaby says, "So it came as no surprise to you?" Noel says, "Well, no, we knew what was going on, but New Zealand? We had no clue on that at all." Barnaby asks about Noel's Uncle Frank? Noel says, "Well, that's life and good luck to 'em. He's an easy come, easy go sort of character. And he got something from it. Dad gave him some money, I think, to sort out his garage trouble."

Julie Stockard and Chris Megson admit they found the horse whisperer by the road and took him to the Manor. They brought him blankets and whiskey. Sean refused to see a doctor and said he had a job to finish. Someone had tried to kill him and he had to lie low for a bit. They left him to sleep and in the morning he'd gone.

Barnaby and Joyce go to Bubbles Stockard's jewelry store to buy jewelry for Cully's birthday. Bubbles tells Barnaby that Melvyn thinks Chris is farm trash. She says Melvyn is "lording" it. She is trying to divorce him and get some money out of him but can't get him on adultery as he has medical certificates since the triple bypass surgery.

Melvyn talks on the phone to Damian. He says "it's all fixed." Jackie walks in and says Mary Mohan is getting restless. Melvyn says she needs a little holiday.

Troy drives out to Lightbourne's garage. He overhears Joe Megson complaining to Frank. "I was born in this village and I mean to die here, in my own bed, not in some stinking prison. They got me cornered. It's that bitch, Mary Mohan, spreading her filth. Her and bloody Stockard and his tart of a daughter with her claws in my boy. I tell you, for two pins, I'd string up the lot of them." Troy says, "Mr Megson, Mr Lightbourne, our boys have filed their report on the doctor's car. So you can go ahead and fix it up now."

Barnaby goes to Melvyn's house and has a warrant. He says, "Last Friday night, Melvyn, which Francesca tells me she spent with you. So you couldn't have driven back past the road victim. I've spoken to Bubbles. I'm sorry to hear about your difficulties." Melvyn says, "Yeah, well, there are many ways of pleasing a woman, Barnaby. Didn't you know? Glass of bubbly six o'clock tomorrow evening? I'm having a few friends in. Bring the wife."

Troy tells Barnaby that Robin Wooliscroft gave Frank Lightbourne his Honda. "He sold it three weeks ago to a Mr Stewart in Haddenham. It's all logged up and kosher. A 'P' Reg Honda is worth about eight grand. Frank had debts up to 30. He was about to go bust. Now he's straightened out, by all accounts. So who coughed up the rest of it?

Frank tells the detectives that he took the car off Robin, tidied it up and sold it on. He offered the money to his sister, but she wouldn't have it. Frank denies knowing that Robin was planning to leave. He implies that Joe Megson may have had something to do with the murder.

Barnaby and Joyce go to Melvyn's home for drinks. Joyce loves the home. Also present at the event are Dr Burgess. Reverend Thorne. Francesca. Julie and Frank Lightbourne. Melvyn tells the group, "the purpose is to give Tom every assistance in his effort to solve this terrible tragedy." Dr. Burgess leaves. Reverend Thorne says, "If I might just throw in a word? I don't know Joe Megson personally, since he isn't a worshipper - He is known by reputation to be a man of uncertain temperament. And it would take such a man allied to a brutal physical strength to - to carry out such an appalling deed." Julie gets upset that Thorne is insulting her future father-in-law. Julie says, "This man is a slimy creature who'll do anything you say to get his bloody roof mended!" The Reverend leaves.

Meanwhile, Detective Sergeant Troy goes to search someone's house, having a search warrant, but get's thrown out.

Someone fetches the key beneath the flowerpot and enters Mary Mohan's home. ( Ominous soundtrack swells )

The next morning, police arrive at Mary's house. Dr. Burgess says, "Oh God, I prescribed her the pills but she gave no indication that she was suicidal." Dr. Bullard says, "This is no suicide and it's a clumsy attempt to make it look like one. The pills rammed down her throat- It would only take a handful of these to do the job." Someone also has searched her home. Troy finds a ticket for a flight to Canada and a letter from her sister in Toronto. So she didn't commit suicide. Barnaby goes to talk to Melvyn and Julie listens outside the window. Melvyn tells Barnaby it was Joe Megson- Mary was friends with Valerie Megson.

As Barnaby gets in the car, he finds Julie Stockard inside. They drive to a pond. Julie says, "This is our place. Midnight feasts, skinny dips. All I want is to be here with Chris." Barnaby says, "Daddy's little girl, getting married in the village he practically owns." Julie replies, "I know you don't like him but he has reformed, you know. And he's got nothing to do with these murders." Barnaby says, "No. He wants us to believe it's Joe Megson, stop the wedding, prevent him from ever becoming your father-in-law. But what if he's right? Well, it wouldn't be your fault, would it? You and Chris, you got lives of your own." Julie says she didn't quite tell him everything about the horse whisperer. She stayed with the man and then her dad came home. He told her to go to bed. When Julie challenged him about it, he told her the man was all right. "He was doing a job for him and if I told you or anyone about it, he'd cancel the wedding."

At the stables, Sean O'Connell is talking to a horse. A rich man in Arab attire arrives. Barnaby and Troy show up. The horse and rider perform for the audience. The audience claps and Sean O'Connell looks relieved. Melvyn receives a briefcase (of money) and passes it to Jackie. Jackie presents the doctor and Sean with their money. Outside, the horse is being difficult in getting into the trailer. ( Horse whinnies fractiously )

Sean tells Barnaby, "I didn't do it for myself or the money. Apart from the need to live, that is. It's about the horses. Creatures like the rest of us that crave a bit of attention and understanding." Barnaby says, "Tell me about Valerie Megson. We just need a contact." Sean says to ask Mary Mohan. Barnaby says Mary has been murdered.

Dr. Burgess asks to speak to the detectives as they are on the way out.

After the police leave, Melvyn gives Sean a packet and says, "Don't say I don't look after you."

Barnaby and Troy talk to Dr. Burgess in the field. Barnaby says, "We have you on wilfully obstructing the police, failing to report a traffic accident." Burgess says, "I did report it." Barnaby says, "No, you didn't, you tried to cover it up. Bill Pitman reported it. What else have we got, sergeant? Oh, drunken and dangerous driving. Supplying a powerful drսg to a suicidal old lady. That's one for the Medical Council." Burgess says, "It was Stockard. He knew I hit that fellow. He had me over a barrel, and he needed my skill. Have you any idea the state that man was in? Patching him up was a singular achievement." Burgess gives the detectives the money he received from Melvyn. Barnaby tells Burgess to bring Sean to the police station Monday morning, 9 o'clock sharp.

Bridget comes to Frank's garage. She has a bottle of liquor. She taunts him. She says, "What's the matter? Scared, little brother? No-one can see us."

Burgess shows up at the police station without Sean. He says he tried to get Sean to come but he wouldn't budge. He just said he was in danger. Burgess gives Barnaby a piece of paper from Sean. It has Valerie Megson's phone number.

Valerie Megson arrives at the White Swan in a taxi. She greets Chris and Julie in the pub.

The detectives bring Sean to the pub to see Valerie. Valerie and Sean met in New Zealand through some farming friends. Valerie and Sean got talking and she told him her situation. Sean was on the point of coming back so he offered his help. To try to find out what had happened to Robin. Valerie says, "We were meeting at 12 o'clock at the check-in, but he didn't come. Then I got a message. Robin had phoned in, they said. He'd been held up. But I wasn't to worry, I was to take the flight and he'd be on the next one. But I couldn't leave without him. So I booked into an airport hotel. Called Mary but she knew nothing. Who else could I call? His wife? Not Joe, he'd have killed me. All next morning I waited, then finally I walked onto the plane in a daze. That flight - oh, God. I'll never forget it." When she was on her way to the airport, Joe Megson tried to run over Mary and Valerie with his tractor. Sean says he did let some information slip when at Melvyn's. He had a list of suspects: MS - Melvyn Stockard. JM - Joe Megson.

Joe Megson is at home screaming at his son Chris and Julie. He wants to know where Valerie is staying. "Where is she staying? I'll get her, the bitch! Showing her face back here! ( Screams ) What kind of mother walks out on her son before his wedding? She's not here for him, girl, or to wear fancy hats in a church. She came back for her lover boy, and what good has that done her? He's down there frying in Hell." Julie yells at him, "Stop! Stop! Stop it!" Joe says, "Get her out of here, Chris! She's not for the likes of you, never was." Julie runs out and Chris goes after her. He tells her, "Julie! Don't listen to him. It's us that matters, not him. Or Mum. Us." They kiss.

Sean goes to his cottage and unloads his bag. He writes a note. Then he realizes he's forgotten "the watch." ( Music escalates dramatically ) Sean goes to a phone booth and dials the phone. Then someone slams a hammer at the booth. They are about to hit Sean, but Jackie scares the man away. Barnaby arrives at the stables and Francesca lets him in. She says, "Jackie Marsh found him in the phone box. We called Dr Burgess immediately." Barnaby goes over to Sean and he whispers something to him. Next Barnaby goes to Joe Megson's home and Megson gives him the watch.

The wedding music starts as Barnaby, Joyce and Valerie arrive. Joe Megson gives his wife a dirty look. ( Organ plays)

At the reception, the bride and groom cut the cake and the audience applauds. Jackie says, "Ladies and gentlemen. Pray silence for the father of the bride." Stockard says, "Ladies and gentlemen, my good friends and neighbours. It's customary at this time for the best man to make a speech of good humour and bad jokes etc. But for reasons I'm not going to dwell on, Noel, our best man, has handed the baton to me today. Noel Wooliscroft, who I'm sure you'll all agree, has shown a level of guts and, well, the true meaning of friendship. (everyone claps for Noel and Bridget pretends to cry into her handkerchief). So you're left with me for the jokes. ( Laughter ) I, er, first came upon this village, I was 10 years old. I vowed, one day that I would own this manor where we are today. And, well, by God's good grace and a little bit of luck on the gee gees, I made it." (Jazz music starts up).

Later, guests get up to leave. Troy and Barnaby ask certain persons to stay in the tent.

Barnaby says, "Ladies and gentlemen. I'm sorry to spoil the party but I'm afraid I must have your attention, please." Troy says, "Around 11pm on the night of July 11th in this village, Robin Wooliscroft met his death. Two weeks ago, his remains were brought up from the well." Barnaby says, "It's no secret he was planning a new life for himself with Mrs Megson. Letters had been left for Noel and Chris. Flights had been booked. But Robin Wooliscroft never got to Heathrow." Troy continues, " At 7 o'clock on the evening of July 11th, he left his office in Causton." Barnaby says, "Now he could have gone home. Mrs Wooliscroft was at her yoga and he probably had some last minute things to do. But what we do know for certain is that sometime in the evening he drove his car to Mr Lightbourne's garage and left it there because he wouldn't be needing it any more. He had just a short walk back to his home - a matter of 10-15 minutes. So he could have met someone or two people, perhaps. There was a taxi ordered for 8 o'clock the following morning. Mrs Wooliscroft sent it away. It was a chilly evening, not many out of their homes, so the one or two people could have been unobserved. But who were they? The two people most hurt by his plans working together?"

Bridget stands up and yells, "No! I had nothing to do with that man. He should have kept hold of his wife!" Noah grabs her arm, "Calm down. Sit down". Barnaby: "But wasn't it much later, Mr Lightbourne, that he came by your garage? It would help clear this up, if you could remember." Frank: "It may have been later. After dark? I work all hours for the good of this village." Barnaby: "Yes, you're everyone's friend, aren't you? Indeed, Robin Wooliscroft trusted you with his secret, didn't he? He gave you his car which you sold to ease your financial burdens. But that was a drop in the ocean. Didn't someone else offer to wipe out your whole debt if you agreed to help in a murder? But who in this village could afford to do that? The squire? The farmer? Or the widow?" Valerie jumps up: "Frank!" Frank says,"Nothing to do with me, any of it." Melvyn says, "OK, Barnaby. Playtime's over. Come on, everybody."

Sean O'Connell walks in. (Party gasps) Troy shows a watch. This was taken from Mr Wooliscroft shortly after his death. It's inscribed 'V to R'. It was smashed at 11:05 precisely on the night of July 11th." Barnaby asks, "That watch, Mr O'Connell. Where have you seen it before?" Sean says, "Mrs Mohan's cottage. It was dropped on her doormat in a package addressed to Mrs Megson." Barnaby says, "Five days ago she gave it to Mr Stockard for safe keeping. Two days ago Mr Megson found it amongst his possessions. Last night he handed it to the police. Last night, also, Mr O'Connell was attacked with a hammer in the village phone box. The person who dealt those blows was the same person who killed Mary Mohan. Fortunately, Mr Stockard's butler, Mr Marsh, was passing and courageously scared off Mr O'Connell's assailant. Unfortunately, for us, he failed to identify him." Jackie says, "Yeah. It were dark, weren't it?" Barnaby, "So to go back to the night of July the 11th, will you now tell us, Mr Lightbourne, who else was with you in your garage? Or shall I?"

(Flashback: Robin says, "I know it's not been easy, Frank, but thanks for being discreet about all this." Bridget walks into the garage and Frank hits Robin over the head with a wrench. ( Dramatic music escalates ) Bridget takes off the watch and smashes it. She rips up the photo of Valerie. Bridget and Frank dump the body down the well.) Barnaby says, "Is that the way it happened, Mr Lightbourne?" Bridget yells, "You deserved it, you filthy, whoring, stinking slag!" She runs over to Valerie and attacks her. Noah and Chris go to pull her off. Police escort Frank and Bridget out in handcuffs.

Dr. Burgess says, "Mary would not have let someone in late at night." Troy says, "We found a spare key under a stone, doctor. Frank must have seen her use it." Bill says, "So, it was Bridget paid Frank's debts with the garage?" Barnaby replies, "Sisterly love, that, Bill. And for services rendered." Joe Megson goes up to Melvyn, who tries to shake his hand and Joe spits in his hand. Joe goes up to Valerie and Chris tells him, "Don't you touch her, Dad."

Outside the married couple come out after changing clothes and the crowd claps and cheers. Melvyn sidles up to Barnaby and says, "I didn't know that body was in the well, I swear it." Barnaby says, "No, but you took advantage, didn't you, Melvyn? When did you know it was Frank and not Megson?" Melvyn says, "Last night. Jackie saw him running away but it was too late by then." Melvyn says, "You planted the watch, did you? Well, I was sure he did it and you were pissing around." Melvyn says, "But as far the cow dung, that wasn't me. I'd never do anything like that to a lady." Barnaby says, "No, that was Frank, also pointing the finger at Megson." Melvyn says, "So what happens next? You gonna arrest me?" Barnaby says, "Oh, yes, Melvyn, for conspiring to pervert the course of justice." Troy comes up with handcuffs, but Barnaby waves him away.

Joyce says, "Do you know, I feel quite sorry for him. (referring to Melvyn who is standing alone smoking his cigar) All this, and three beautiful women who, I'm sure, he loves in his way." Barnaby says, "And to think I only have two." (Horn toots) The crowd claps and cheers as the married couple drive away.
