Freya Ferabbee is a character appearing in the episode Send in the Clowns of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders.
Freya worked a part-time shift at the Denton's Bar & Grill restaurant in Swynton County and at some point, she married Curtis Ferabbee, the owner of the farm who had been in a lifelong feud with his brother Joe Ferabbee, over the land he established his circus on. At the same time, she was involved with the circus as she had been life-long friends with the box-office lady Daniella Bellini and, also behind Curtis' back, was having an affair with the show's Cuban illusionist Raoul Delgado.
The first day after the circus comes back to town, Freya tells Curtis that she's going to Denton's to work the night shift after two other employees. Ferabbee tells her he can drop her off, though she objects to drive herself; much to her husband's suspicion. Upon arriving at the restaurant, where she happens to serve the Barnabys during dinner, her boss, tells her to put her phone away. She does so, though then sneaks off to check a text sent to her by Raoul. After that, the power goes out and she witnesses the mysterious clown stalking them from the window.
The next day, she addresses a town hall meeting where her husband chews Denton for not doing anything to stop the problem. Among the crowd is Mostyn Cartwright, who she knows works at the abattoir that Mr. Ferabbee operates; though unbeknownst to her, was also the clown that Curtis made him dress up as to spread fear among the locals and unite them to blame it on the circus so he can get full ownership of the land. After Terry Bellini is murdered, Freya goes to his wife's wagon to comfort her and upon leaving, gets a message from Curtis asking where she's been. She ignores it to meet up with Raoul as the two begin making out behind the camper. Later, when Barnaby discovers that one of Curtis' rifles has gone missing, he accidentally brings up Freya's involvement with the circus to her husband and she explains that Mostyn may have had access to the cabinet's keys. A little while later after Harry is told off by his father, he goes to Denton's as Freya counsels him during her "work shift," much to the attention of Curtis who's driving by. Barnaby then comes in to inquire her about why she didn't tell him about her affair with the circus where she explains to him his troubled past with his mother and that he can be very "protective." When Barnaby asks if Mr. Denton was at the pub all day yesterday, she explains that he was there signing paperwork, though shrugs off the possibility of him leaving for a bit and coming back unnoticed. In the afternoon, she comes home to find her husband displeased on seeing her "cheating" with her nephew. She accuses him of stalking her, though they make up for a bit and off-screen, she tells Ferabbee about Harry's "Gothic extravaganza" concept; which he tries to use as leverage in reversing the circus land's claim.
The day after Denton's murder, Curtis, who had just seen Daniella leaving after visiting Freya at his home, goes to challenge her commitment of never "leaving him" by pulling out a flight card that he found in her bag: destined for San Francisco. Mrs. Ferabbee defends that she just needed a break, though he does not believe her and goes all the way to stop her by taking her phone; along with finding out that she's been stealing money from all of his bank accounts. Freya then retreats to her room and pulls out a drawer that contains a backup phone taped underneath it, which she pulls off as she makes an urgent call to someone. Upon hearing the slaughterhouse alarm go off, Curtis leaves the house to investigate as Freya watches from the attic window; marking the last she ever sees her husband. When Barnaby investigates her about his death, asking if she was aware of him not coming home, confirmed that he often worked late and that she slept in a spare room. When asked why he didn't keep tabs on where she was or if she heard the alarm at 5 PM, she explained that he knew she was home and that he (or Mostyn) turned it off. She also mentions Daniella popping by for a visit and that she went to take a walk afterwards. When he mentions the troubled relationship between her and Curtis, Freya grits through her teeth that they had it "under control." As a result of his death, Freya now inherits his house and assets.
After arresting Mostyn, the detectives return to the house to find Freya, only to discover the phone she taped underneath the drawer as meanwhile, she goes to the circus one last time to confront Raoul, who "double-crossed" her by having sex with another woman and knocks him with a prop silver orb that Raoul was fidgeting with prior to Denton's death. When the police investigate the drama, Barnaby interrogates Freya where she defends that he deserved it and only regretted not hitting hard enough. When Barnaby questions if she used enough force to kill her husband, she denies it. Before she and Raoul are arrested for committing polygamy, she finds out that Raoul was only interested in marrying her to get all the money that she embezzled from Farabbee.
