John Shrapnel (27 April 1942 – 14 February 2020) was a British actor known for his stage-work predominantly with the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company.
After working as a member of Laurence Olivier's National Theatre Company, he appeared in various television series and films, such as Nicholas and Alexandria (1971) - alongside fellow Midsomer Murders actors David Jayston (Let Us Prey) and Janet Suzman (The Sword of Guillaume) - and Notting Hill (1999), with his final role as the Archbishop of Canterbury in the television film King Charles III (2017).
He died of cancer at the age of 77 in 2020.
