Lady Matilda William is a character appearing in the episode The Sword of Guillaume of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders.
An immensely proud woman, a descendant of Norman knights, she had a great deal of contempt for those who did not share her heritage. She wielded her power and influence on the village council like a club, as far as she was concerned, her opinion was the only one that mattered.
She had convinced herself that her son Richard, last of the line and confined to a wheel chair because of a head injury twenty years past, was the victim of jealousy and envy rather than accept the police conclusion that he'd been injured because of his sexual orientation.
