Sophia Bellini is a character appearing in the episode Send in the Clowns of the ITV crime drama Midsomer Murders.
Sophia was born to Danielle and Terry Bellini, who each had a role to play in the Ferabbees Circus that often performed in Swynton County. Whenever Sophia wasn't helping her mother at the box office, she helped the illusionist Raoul Delgado with his props on stage and aspired to be an aerial dancer like her mother used to be, along with her dead aunt Elsa who as she stated, "knew the risks." She was also familiar with Mostyn Cartwright, the local meat butcher, and was aware of his track record of committing several thefts; though chose not to report him as it would cost him his job. This consequentially led him to steal the locket that belonged to her aunt, though before the break-in happens, she and Joe Ferabbee walk in on an argument they have about leaving the circus as her father begs Sophia to move with him, though she refuses. During the investigation of Terry's murder, a tearstruck Sophia comes into the RV to mourn with Daniella as well; unbeknownst that it was her mother who killed him due to the revelation that he caused Elsa's death.
When the circus is allowed to open for one night during the murder case, both she and Raoul are brought in to do the first act, the "magic box"; where they expect Farabbee to be the usual "volunteer" until Ashley Denton chimes in that he'll do it. Things go relatively smooth until the final sword to be planted kills Ashley, which unbeknownst to Daniella, was sharpened by her mother, who was watching from behind the tent, as it was intended to kill Joe; who she found out falsified the evidence of Elsa's death in an attempt to save the circus. When the police investigate Sophia on what happened that night, she states that everything seemed the same as it was for every other performance except that Ashley "volunteered" instead of Farabbee. Later onward, Bellini decides to practice her aerial gymnastics using a training hoop and upon coming down is greeted by Joe, who's impressed with her work and tries pushing her to the next level by comparing her to Elsa and that she may be ready for the "Silken Noose." She objects to it at first, but is coerced into practicing it long enough for her mother to walk in. Outraged, she protests that what happened to Elsa will soon become the fate of her daughter, only for Joe to snap that they do what he commands.
Sometime before Daniella goes to see Freya Ferabbee, Sophia decides to tell her that it was Mostyn who broke into their RV; leading Daniella to break into the abattoir to get her locket back while causing the death of Curtis. When Jaime Winter goes to ask Daniella if she can confirm Freya's alibi, he finds Sophia instead and notices that she's looking more stressed than usual, which leads her to confess that it was Mostyn who broke into their home; giving him and John Barnaby a definitive lead on who the mysterious thief is.
With Daniella being the final suspect left and upon being cornered by Barnaby & Winter, Sophia walks in on the circus to see her Mom retreating up into the aerial platform; much her to her shock and horror. After hearing her confess to the murders of Terry, Ashley and Curtis, Sophia begs Daniella not to jump as she places her foot near the velvet rope, though jumps regardless and climbs down to safety after performing what may have been the "Silken Noose." Sophia has one last look at her mother, face to face, and walks away from her in shame before watching both her and Ferabbee taken away by the cops as Harry comes in to console her; possibly hinting at a relationship between the two.
