I have recently contacted ITV about the remaining episodes of Midsomer Murders in Series 20. This is the response I have been given.
In regards to Midsomer Murders, some of our shows including Dramas are filmed well in advance which is the case for Midsomer. The storylines for this show are also self contained to each episode which means we have greater flexibility on how we play the series, allowing us to treat them as specials rather than transmitting them in weekly succession. Two new episodes is what we had always planned for March. We will update in due course when new episodes of Midsomer Murders return to the ITV schedule, although, 'The Lions', 'Till Death' and 'The Clowns' will air in July, on a weekly back - to - back basis.
Furthermore, series 21 has already undergone filming, and is in fact on its 3rd episode already. Unfortunately for UK fans, the first episode in the 21st series will air late 2019 in the US on multi - platinum award winning streaming service, Acorn TV, Britains will have to wait a short while after to witness the latest Midsomer Murder, in feature - length opener, 'The Point of Balance'.
Midsomer returns in July to ITV. Acorn streams series 21 in Autumn.
